HauntSeeker Halloween Display Finder Frequently Asked Questions So you have a question about HauntSeeker? You've come to the right place! If you have a question about building props or making anything Halloween, I highly recommend visiting Hauntforum as it is chock full of experts in Halloween props and design. Do I have to have a picture to submit my display? Yes. Without a picture, many people simply won't visit your home without knowing what to expect. Because we list all displays, large and small, it is very helpful to our guests that a picture accompany the display listing. Will you sell our information to others? Absolutely not. We aren't looking to make money from your names or email addresses. Your email address will not be displayed in the listing, and we will only use it to inform you of updates to the site as needed. How do I know that my display got listed in the database? After 24-48 hours, you can simply search your zip code to find it, however, once your home has been added, you will receive an email confirming this. Remember, we go through all of the submissions and approve them by hand in order to keep the site safe from those that might want to try to post pictures we wouldn't want your children to see! How do I update or remove my display from the database? You can now login to your account and make modifications. If you would like to have your display removed from the list, please send an email to webmaster@hauntseeker.com including your display address from the email address that you signed up with. And of course tell me if you would like to be removed or updated. Ok, I have signed up and my email was accepted. Now how do I make up my display to show up on the site? On the main menu to the left, you can click on login. It should allow you to login. Once you have logged in, you should be able to see a hidden screen appear right below the HauntSeeker on the top of the page. Just click on Your Entries and it should being up a screen to enter in all your information. The Add Entries link should also appear in the window right below the map as well. Just click on that to add your display. Then I will check it out and approve it, and then you are in. If you make a mistake, you can always go back and make changes. I really don't want my full address on-line. Can I just enter my city, State and Zip. Yes you certainly can. The intent of this site is to help people locate and check out your display. But if you prefer not to diplay your street address then you certainly don't have to enter it into the site. The site will only require you to enter your City, State, and zip. And that is all. It is only a suggestion that you list a website so that visitors can contact you for directions directly instead. I can't upload my picture. Why not? Your picture has to be in JPG format. There are legal reasons that our host won't allow the upload of GIF images. In order to convert your picture to a JPG image, you either need a graphics program like Paint Shop Pro, or, a graphics converter. We have a free graphics converter called Easy Image Converter available here. Your picture also needs to be resized to make it smaller. You can also do this with a graphics program, or, download Microsoft's Free Image Resizer here. It is recommended to resize your images to 1024x768 or smaller. You also want the picture file to be 1 megabyte (1024k) or less. I keep getting an error code everytime I submit my information? 99.9% of the time the reason is that your image that you have selected is too large for the system to handle. Your picture needs to be resized in order for the system to accept it. You can do this with a graphics program, or, download Microsoft's Free Image Resizer here. It is recommended to resize your images to 1024x768 or smaller. You also want the picture file to be 1 megabyte (1024k) or less. My Halloween display isn’t extreme or elaborate as some of the other displays listed on Hauntseeker. I really don’t have a haunt per-say. Can I still put my display on Hauntseeker? Yes, by all means. You don’t have to have a large Halloween display or be a Halloween extremist to be put your display on Hauntseeker. If you are the type that likes to show off your Halloween decorations every year to your community, then you qualify. I don’t know what type of display mine is. What should I use? If the choices that are listed don’t seem to fit your haunt or display, please feel free to contact me. If enough people have alternate display types, then I certainly will change it to suite. But if you would like to put your display on-line today, you certainly couldn’t go wrong with Home Haunt. We can always change it later. My display was denied after submitting to Hauntseeker due to my image. Preferably, the picture that you select to upload should be one of your haunt, display, prop, or something that shows to the public your display. Images not directly of your haunt, display, or any props will not be accepted. My display's description was cutt off after I submitted it. What do I do? You are allowed 255 characters or less for your description. You can always edit your display on your profile and resubmit your corrected description. How do I upload my video onto my page? If you don't already, create an account on www.youtube.com. Once you have an account, they will show you how to upload a video to www.youtube.com. Once you upload your video to youtube.com, they will give you an URL link to that video.(Example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwOL4rB-go) Then while submitting or editing your haunt to Hauntseeker, just paste the link on the line marked YouTube Video URL. Once that is submitted and approved, your video will show up as a embedded video on your page. I can't find any homes near me. Am I doing something wrong? Probably not. While the HauntSeeker database is trying to be the largest resource of it's kind on the internet, it is entirely possible that noone in your area has submitted their homes to us. If you know of homes in your area that could be submitted here, please, let them know about us so that others in your area can find them. What if my question isn't answered here? Easy!
